Scotland and Ireland Vacation 2024

Whit and I got to visit Scotland and Ireland this trip. Thought I'd share a few pictures.

Got to have a personal tour of the Lowden Guitar factory in Northern Ireland. What a treat for me!
George Lowden's workbench.

Some Lowden guitars in progress

Dan Lowden, George's son and very nice guy.

Look at all that gorgeous tonewood!

Explaining how they put on the backs.

The factory is on a very non-discript place in the middle of the Irish country side. Hardly noticeable from the road.

This was just a pretty place we stopped to look and snapped a picture.
Cliffs of Moher. "Cliffs of Insanity" in the background.
Some shots of a beautiful little forest we hiked.

Castle Blarney.

St. Colman's cathedral in Cork. Last port of call for the Titanic.

Glencoe in Scotland.

Highly unusual sunny weather we were having. Thought of my dear friend Euan who is no longer with us. He described Glencoe to me once. Told me how beautiful it is. "A must see" he said. I've been back many times since. You were right Euan. It is gorgeous. One of my favorite spots in all the earth.

Edinburgh! Beautiful city!

We stopped at the William Wallace memorial. Dominates the entire valley and overlooks one of the most significant battles of the era. Fascinating history.
Peter and Evelyn took us to Dumphries House where the largest collection of original Chippendales furniture is found. Truly beautiful stuff!
The question is settled now. EV is shorter than Whit!

Adjacent to Dumphries house is a lovely garden. I thought this tree was beautiful.

Our gracious hosts.

For us this trip was truly relaxing. Few vacations have been so fun
Simple pleasures like a walk in the forest, historical sites, castles, and cathedrals. Not to mention old friends and new. Great experience.
