Friday morning, the whole family got up to meet Antonia, our exchange student from Berlin at the airport. She had just come from a terrible flight that was delayed and missed her flight from D.C. into Seattle. She took a flight into San Francisco where United put her up for a few hours at the airport hotel there and then she flew out at 6am arriving in Seattle around 8.
Antonia, or Toni, will be with us for the school year. We've already started bonding with her and I'm sure she's already starting to wonder what she's gotten herself into. She now has 4 sisters and a brother. At home she has one older brother named Sebastian.
On Saturday, we had her helping us spread bark in the yard. Later we went out on the boat to balance the day's work with a little fun. She seemed to really enjoy the tubing.
Sunday, she attended church with us. I think it was a bit of a shock for her as I don't think she attends church much at home, much less for 3 hours straight. Nonetheless, she takes it all in stride and is excited to be with us.
She likes to play cards and other games and has taught the kids some card games as well as learned how to play spoons. She's starting to learn some English slang already too. Christine taught her about downtime. Can't wait to teach her some of my favorite sayings. :)
