My kids always amaze me with their creativity for family home evening lessons. This week, Jenny told the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednago. She built a little oven out of LEGOs, put in yellow paper to represent fire, covered a Ken doll with aluminum foil for the idol and used little lego men for the characters in the story. As she was telling the story, her LEGO oven kept falling apart. It was hard to keep from laughing because, you gotta know Jenny, she just keeps going in spite of it all. She would keep telling the story as she repeatedly put the oven back together.
Jenny continues to entertain her family like when she was just two years old. Back then, our activity was to watch Jenny run from one side of the family room to the other, bouncing off the furniture. Recently, Jenny put a rice bag (Think:Beanbag) down the back of her gymnastics leotard until it found a place firmly between her legs, hanging down much like a fully loaded diaper... Sounds discusting and I guess it is, but, that's Jenny. We all practically died laughing on that one. Occasionally, Jenny gets on a batty binge and can't stop laughing and "spazzing". Her "spazzing" effects the rest of the kids, and if it's during dinner, it can be very distracting. So, we'll send her to the laundry room to calm down. Even through a door, she can still make everyone laugh. She'll continue to talk in her own "special" language to herself. Meanwhile, the other kids can't stop laughing.
I've got a new nickname for Jenny now. "NiBiT" Stands for "Nothing But Trouble" She considers that a badge of honor.
Anyway, Jenny did a great job with the lesson. She taught us all the lesson and kept us entertained as well. I especially liked this quote :
"And, and, the guards... Well, the fire was so hot that they got burned up. And, well, that was a bummer."
Family Home Evenings are fun.
