Flashback : Sarah Camille Haselden

Ten Fingers

Tiny diapers, tiny clothes,
All is prepared and safely stowed.

Questions asked, answers given,
Expectant mother to delivery is driven.

Able doctors, tender nurses,
Father hovers, mother pushes.

Tufts of hair, the baby’s crown!
Oh! Great miracle profound.

Ten fingers, ten toes,
Mommy’s eyes, daddy’s nose.

A perfect body sound and true,
God’s blessing in full view.

Strong cries bear witness,
To the arrival of our princess.

A miracle we cannot comprehend,
Tears of joy are shed.

Time of arrival: ten after midnight,
Weight: eight eleven, twenty one her height.

August 18, 2000 the date,
A beautiful life we anticipate.

Patient family awaits her arrival,
Grandparents put up with sibling troubles.

Lindsey can’t wait to see,
Soon her second mother to be.

Tyson, hoping for a brother,
If he’s not, then don’t bother.

Amanda, not clear how to act,
Just wants mommy back.

Jenny cannot comprehend
The changes new babies demand.

Increment by one our family,
Compound our love thru eternity.

Mother's healthy, baby too,
So, world, with no further adieu,

Let me introduce you to her then,
Sarah Camille Haselden!
